What to Look for in a Legitimate Affiliate Program

You may be wondering how you can be sure that the affiliate review program you are considering participating in is a legitimate one. There are a number of things you can look for that will help you determine this.

Look for a professional-looking website that includes contact information as well as other items. Don’t just look at flashy graphics or “in-your-face” text and wording. Look for other things such as overall content and the layout of the site. Is it “busy” or is it easy to see and read the information? Also, look for spelling and grammatical errors. A professional website will have been reviewed enough times for those to be caught. A scam website isn’t going to pay attention to the “little details.”

Look for affiliate review programs, like gaming sites, which offer a high commission. Believe it or not, this is actually one of the best indicators of a legitimate program. The volume of repeat sales to a company that you handled the referral for is more important than the number of sales that were made only once. Sure, a lot of “one-time” sales may bring in a good bit of commission, but the repeat sales will ultimately spell more success for everyone involved.

Run; don’t walk, from an affiliate review program that tries to enforce restrictions on you. These can include the other programs in which you can participate or even the types of products you can sell on your program. Legitimate top affiliate programs do not impose restrictions.

Above all, pay attention to your instincts. If something just “doesn’t look right” or “doesn’t feel right” about the site, go with that feeling. Conduct more research or look for other evidence that the site may not be legitimate. It’s better to be slightly overcautious than end up caught in a scam website that could affect your business in a negative way.

It’s That Time of Year

You know what time of year it is. We’ve been seeing the signs for over a month already. The colder temperatures, the special decorations, some people who are just in an overall better mood. I wish I loved the season more, but I just never got into it. You know, of course, that I am talking about football season.

Some of my husband’s buddies use sports betting sites to help with their fantasy football picks. My husband uses his own skills to pick his fantasy football team. This has never landed him near the top of the list of winners, but he has fun with it anyway.

Like I said, I’m not that big on football. However, it is a great stress reliever for my husband and gives him as chance to hang out with his friends and joke around a bit. They are always making fun of each others’ teams. Also, even though I could live without watching the games, I do enjoy giving him and the other guys a hard time about their teams.

I know, you probably thought I was talking about Christmas back there in the beginning. I love Christmas actually. I like to decorate and I love buying people gifts. I go shopping for all of my friends and family while keeping in mind the look that I want to see on their faces when they open the gifts I brought them. Who wouldn’t love something that was bought purely to bring the giftee joy?

I have found great deals online this week. I can’t believe how inexpensive some things can be once a store or website has the idea that they can sell thousands of something at a certain price point. I bought DVDs for less than $2 each!

I have some cleaning to do around here that I had better get started. More soon!

A Quick Guide to Video Game Ratings

Have you ever looked at the ratings on a video game and wondered what they meant? Usually, the ratings simply consist of a couple letters with little or no explanation. So how do you know if you are getting an age-appropriate video game? Here is a quick guide to the ratings on video games and a short description of what each one means.

EC – This is an abbreviation for “Early Childhood.” This means that the game is ideal for children who are at least three years old. If you see this rating, you should expect the game to appropriate materially for your toddler.

This one-letter abbreviation stands for “Everyone.” This means that the content in the video game is appropriate for anyone over the age of six. There may be some violence and mischief committed by the characters, but it is overall mild and safe.

T – If you see a “T” as the rating on a game, it is appropriate for ages 13 and up. The game probably contains some violence, strong language and suggestive themes, but it is kept relatively mild compared to the next rating.

M – You’ve probably seen this rating on many video games lately. That’s because it stands for “Mature” and more and more video games are being geared toward adults. Games with these ratings often include intense violence, sexual scenes, foul language and more. It would be like going to an R-rated movie in many cases except for the fact that you don’ get to play along during the movie.

AO – This rating stands for “Adults Only” and it would be equivalent to the NC-17 rating for movies. Games in this category tend to be very graphic in their sex scenes, depictions of gratuitous violence and language. These games are not intended for any gamers under the age of 18.

RP – The “RP” rating means that the rating is still pending. If you are unsure of its content, you should wait until it has been rated before letting your children play it.

How Technology Has Changed Getting a Loan

Getting a loan used to take a lot of paperwork and time. You’d go to the bank, fill out an application, have it reviewed, wait for the bank to inquire at the credit bureaus, and then either be approved or unapproved. But with the technological advances of the last 15 years, all that has changed.

Online Applications

Although it’s still possible to go to a bank and apply for a loan, you now have the ability to apply online. Whether you’re looking to refinance auto loan rates, get a mortgage, or open up an equity line of credit, you can now do so all online. You do want to verify that this online source is reputable as you will be giving it your personal information (such as social security number and birth date), but filling out an application is quick. Once you provide your information, you’ll find out quickly if you’ve been approved — sometimes within seconds. It’s that easy!

Electronic Verification

Another thing that’s changed with technology is how quickly you can receive verification from the credit bureaus about your credit status and credit score. When it comes to getting a loan, your credit score affects the interest rate you’ll receive. If your credit score is higher, it means that you reliably pay your bills, don’t have too much debt, and pay off your debt whenever possible. Because of this, the chances of you paying off your loan are greater and you’ll be given a lower interest rate than someone who has a lower credit score.

If you choose to apply in person, the banker can verify your credit score with the credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) through the Internet. No need to wait for forms to be mailed to them and then mailed back to the bank. This makes applying for a loan fast and easy.

Isn’t technology great! You can now get a loan quickly with advancements in technology.

A Brief History of the Internet

When did you first start hearing about the Internet? The obvious answer is usually the 1990s. Images of America Online, Prodigy and other providers spring to mind as does the sounds of a modem dialing up and the now iconic “You’ve Got Mail”. Although that might be the public’s first experience with the Internet, the actual history started far earlier. Rather than thinking of the Internet as the global marketplace of ideas that it is now, the early stages were merely away for circuits or motherboards to communicate. Computer hardware is an assembly of circuit boards, and the idea of putting the power of all these circuits together would revolutionize the manner in which human knowledge could be shared and accessed.

During the Cold War, defense contractors needed a way for computers to interconnect. From computers, interconnecting came the Internet. From these origins a British engineer and computer scientist, Tim Berners-Lee created hypertext transfer protocal or http. Berners-Lee is credited as the father of the Internet because he implemented the first communication between an HTTP client and a server via the Internet. As a way communicate between the computers a relevant language was needed, so Berners-Lee and a student at the European Organization for Nuclear Research developed hypertext mark language- html. Not a true programming language because it is based on tags, html was developed to as away for researchers across the world to share information amongst researchers.

The birth of the World Wide Web was not complete until Berners-Lee combined his coding language with Transmission Control Protocol, which built a network between computers, and the domain name system..

The first website was built by Berners-Lee, and put on line on August 6, 1991. By 1992, the Internet, which had previously only been open to government and corporate researchers was made public. The simple text based sites and explain of information would soon become the new means to entertain, inform and interact. From humble origins, the Internet has grown affect nearly every aspect of human activity.

Hire a Property Manager

A lot of people think that hiring a property manager to watch over their property is a waste of the money they can be making off of their rental. But in a lot of ways, it is really not a waste at all. For one thing, you do not have to keep up industry contacts. For another thing, you do not have to maintain contact with your team. For yet another thing, you do not have to keep up memberships in certain industry specific programs that a property manager would need to have. And if you still need another reason for trying property management services, consider the fact that tenants can be a serious hassle to deal with.

A property manager needs to have people in their stable. They need a drain specialist, a lawn mower, a trash hauler, a house cleaner, a painter, a tree remover, a real estate broker and a lock smith. And those are just for the occasions when a tenant takes good care of the place, and then vacates peaceably. On other occasions, they need a proper construction crew, a good relationship with the local constable, and an electrician if the tenant decides to take a few “copper souvenirs” along when they decide to exit. And specialists to remediate fire and mold damage are not bad ideas either. Needless to say, your first rental property (or really, even your first ten rentals) probably will not justify having such a large team of individuals. And they certainly will not only be doing your jobs. To have people be dedicated, you need to provide them with a steady stream of work to do.

Property managers also need to be members of local real estate associations, and have access to the MLS, lists of potential tenants, and be able to conduct background checks on people. All of that can cost.

Texts, Twitter, Technology and Media

When LeBron James held his tragically indulgent television special “The Decision” on July 8, 2010 he made an announcement that was supposed to have “shocked the world”. Yet despite the pomp and circumstance surrounding this event, the so-called King of basketball proved that he was not the King of the media. A week before the supposed revelation, a freelance reporter names Stephan A. Smith broke the story on Twitter.

That the story broke prior to the official announcement is not a surprise. Stories break prior to press conferences frequently. The manner in which the LeBron James free agency news broke and was reported might become more enduring than the story about the basketball player’s decision to leave home to play for the Miami Heat.

Smith broke his news that James would be heading to Miami via Twitter, which was only appropriate considering how information out the potential free agent moves were reported throughout the process. News and rumors swung were James would land everyday.

For months it had been assumed that he would leave for New York. ESPN.com columnist Bill Simmons even organized Boston Celtics fans to chant New York Knicks at Lebron when he stood at the free throw line during the 2010 playoffs. Simmons used twitter to organize the chants.

As soon as the 2010 NBA Playoffs ended, the Chicago Bulls became the favorite to land James. Twitter reports in June had him looking at homes in the Chicago area. And a website sendlebrontochicago.com was launched and reported on by traditional media.

Technology changed not only how news was reported but also how it was created. Where it once mattered who owned the printing press or television station, the dynamics have shifted so that anyone has the ability to report and broadcast. Sites like mepacircuit.org help to explain this transition. Technology does not just shape the news. As Herbert Marshall McLuhan stated, “The medium is the message.” And in the case of twitter the message is brief, frantic and always seeking an immediate payoff.

Need Quality for a Good Price? Choose Hoover Vacuums

Everything you buy is for the good of your family. Whether you are buying gaming consoles with the latest gaming circuits or cleaning tool, you want the very best for your family.

When you have a family to take care of and you want to give them the cleanest, safest home you can, you need to buy a good vacuum. It can be hard to decide which vacuum cleaner you want to buy, because there are so many choices on the market today. They are in all different price ranges and they also offer different attachments and choices. Which one will be the best vacuum is something that only you can decide. You want something that does all you need it to do, but you don’t want to spend extra money for things you don’t need and won’t be using – like too many extra attachments.

Getting quality for a good price is vital for hard-working moms who need good vacuums. If you fall into that category, you should consider Hoover vacuums. The company is a household name and has been around for a number of years. The people who started the company and those who work there today all know the value of offering a high-quality item for an affordable price. They want people to buy their products, and they want those people to come back when they need a new one – and to recommend their products to others.

If you need a good vacuum, Hoover is a company that can provide it to you. The prices vary depending on the vacuum you want to get, so almost anyone can find a vacuum that will work in her price range. The more attachments you need the more you can expect to pay, and the same is true with the size of the vacuum, the power of the motor, the width of the cleaning path, and other issues. Make sure you take all of these things into consideration when you’re going to buy a Hoover vacuum.

Willy Nicky

When examining the effects of technology upon a society, coming to any definitive conclusion is a nearly impossible exercise – at least when living in the present. Historians might be able to definitively say that the invention of movable type brought about the Protestant Reformation. Claims that the invention of the Internet and devises of communication such as Twitter will eliminate global conflict sound more like screaming for headlines rather than a serious observation.

Predicting the future remains an exercise reserved mostly for entertainment value. Will Twitter and social media revolutionize the world? The Internet’s ability to create connections between people is undeniable. Yet how much as human life really changed? Violence is still prevalent. And the top percent of wealthy people still control a vast majority of the world’s riches.

Greater access to knowledge and better lines of communication have yet to create a more peaceful world. While technology might have prevented a global conflict such as World War II from happening again, mutually assured destruction seems like a dangerous way to go on.

It is far too soon to right off Twitter and other communication devises as merely toys. Creating real change in human relations might take decades of eroding ideas such a extreme nationalism. The question then becomes what if?

In an imagine that exercise, what if Twitter had existed 100 years ago. What if the Willy-Nicky Telegrams, (the exchange between Kaiser Wilhelm II and Tsar Nicholas prior to the outbreak of World War I) occurred on public Twitter pages? Would armies have been so willing to march if they saw that the leaders were on a pet name basis, yet bound by “honor” to send their subjects too their deaths?

This is perhaps the most intriguing aspect of social media. It does what journalism was always supposed to do; it “shines the light” on subjects and people. Politicians are no longer able to lie about things such as accomplishments or miltary records. Communiation, even private e-mails tend to become public. Thus the primary weapon that sent soilders to war, ignorance has been weakened. With access to information greater than ever before in offers hope for a better future.
